Should the names of women who falsely accuse men of rape be made public. Right now, in britain, women who have wrongly accused a man of rape have the right to complete anonimity. While the innocent man, is named, treated as guilty, and vilified possibly, for the rest of his life. Personally I think the sooner society is protected from these deranged attention seekers the better.
Yes.
...Agreed

I agree. If these women are falsely accusing someone of such a crime, then why should they remain anonymous? That's ridiculous. The people who are being falsely accused, have their names dragged through the mud, for the whole world to know, and there's absolutley no need for it. Now, if a person accused someone of this, and it most certainly wasn't false, then, I believe that they have the right to remain anonymous, if they choose.
Hi. Goblin, this is a good question, and one that's not often thought about. Most of society takes the woman's side and immediately brands a man as guilty. While I understand why this is, you're right, it can lead to trouble. I can think of several women I know of who have falsely accused multiple men of sexual harassment of varying degrees. Though those women's names are not made public here in America either, those around them come to know real fast who they are, and their real motives for the false accusations. However, I do agree with you. If a woman has a track record of false accusations, her name should definitely be made public, and the innocent man should be publicly cleared. It will never fully take away the damage done to his name and reputation, but maybe it could lessen it.
The flipside to this is, what do you do in a case that can't be proved one way or the other, who is innocent and who is guilty?
Gemini and Sister I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts and the question has raised yet another, how long can a woman falsely accusing men of this crime, seriously expect to get away with this before a man finally snaps and does commit rape.Sister, in Scotland, we have the very controversial Not Proven verdict. If this is the unanimous verdict of the jury, men and women suspect of rape, or false accusations, can fully expect to walk free due to the jury failing to reach a consensus.
While my sympathies do go out to a man who is falsely accused, they end if he snaps and commits rape. I can only imagine how terrible it must be to have your life and reputation ruined by a false accusation. But that is absolutely no excuse for going out and committing the crime, not to mention such a horrible crime as rape. There are better ways to handle one's anger and hardship than crime. Anyone who uses the defense of, "I've been accused of it, so I might as well do it," is just searching for excuses. Besides, from a purely self-preservation standpoint, what does it serve? All a man who actually snaps and commits rape has done is prove his accusers right, and they win. So, as I said, any sympathy I would have for a man falsely accused ends when he, by his own will, makes those accusations the truth.
Goblin, your suggestion doesn't go far enough. Not only should there names be made public, but for good and well deserved punishment for being lying attention-seeking bitches, women who make false rape claims should face the maximum sentence a rapist can receive, and they should lose their right not to be raped.
lol shows respect for women there doesn't it just? No woman, none, should ever lose their right to keep their sexual choices. Anyone who advocates rape in any copacity should be shot.
Sister I completely agree, but sadly this risk will remain as long as women continue to falsely accuse men of rape, and I'm not justifying the crime for a minute, it's inexcusable. However, I feel that in this case, men have been stripped of their rights and worse still a complete dissilution of their dignity, by this archane and senseless law.
They should be punished severely for doing this because, just imagine how horrible life in prison would have been for this man had he been found guilty; I don't know what the maximum sentence is for a rapist here in the US, but I've heard of the treatment rapists receive by the other inmates. Some are killed, raped, prostituted, and so many other things that would be appropriate if done to an actual rapist, and for an innocent man to be exposed to such a fate is just a tragedy. I shutter at the thought of how many times this has happened; no doubt there are innocent men sitting in prison today. The courts should also fine them or something for the money and time wasted on their false accusations, but no, these neanderthals always get special treatment because "they're women," Baloney!
Even if the guy is exonerated, his reputation is in disarray, along with his honour and self esteem. There will always be those who say "where there's smoke there's fire" and go on condemning the guy.

I totally agreed, they should be named, the only thing where i'd say they shouldn't is if they are a child, in that case i say no, but in all other cases, yes.
